About Us
Since the late 1880s, the Parish of Birkdale Beach Haven Anglican Church has been devoted to serving the community, adapting its services to meet evolving needs. Over the decades, our neighborhood has transformed from primarily owner-occupied homes to a diverse mix of government and privately owned rental properties, including apartments and houses. Our experiences from the 1960s, particularly the establishment of the Birkdale Community House to address pressing community needs, continue to shape our mission as we respond to similar challenges today.
In 2020, we took a significant step to enhance our community support by creating the Cedar Community Trust, a separate charitable trust focused exclusively on addressing local needs. This new structure empowers us to manage resources and programs more effectively and efficiently, further embodying our commitment to being a community serving a community.
Our Purpose
We are dedicated to providing guidance and resources that meet the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in the Beach Haven and Birkdale areas. Our aim is to establish service centres, programs, and facilities that support sustainable community well-being while alleviating hardships related to health, finances, and emotional struggles. We also offer educational and social services to individuals of all ages who require care or counselling.
